Danish bike culture since 1903

Swedish distributor of bicycles and accessories

Unicykel was founded by a couple of cycling enthusiasts on Hisingen in Gothenburg in the late 1970s.

From the very beginning, the goal was to offer sporty bicycles designed for the Swedish market with truly high quality. The big breakthrough came in 1981 when the company established contact with the Japanese manufacturer Kawamura in Kobe. An agreement was signed for their brand Nishiki. Loose frames and components were imported from the world’s leading manufacturers, and the bicycles were then assembled in the same craftsman-like manner that is still used today.

In 2009, the operation moved to larger and more purpose-built premises, which enabled a further increase in production. Today, we own the rights to the Nishiki name ourselves and thus create a completely unique range of bicycles for Sweden. Our guiding principles remain the same as at the start: to offer sporty bicycles for the Swedish market with truly high quality.

In 2015, ownership of Unicykel was transferred to HF Christiansen A/S, Denmark’s largest cycling group.

In 2016, Unicykel took over its Swedish sister company, HF Christiansen Cykler AB.

This opens up unprecedented opportunities for the future, as we become one of Sweden’s largest bicycle wholesalers with several highly attractive Danish bicycle brands as well as a wide range of accessories and spare parts.
